About me

I'm Jerry Hao, first-year student in Georgetown University, studying data science and analytics. I majored in data science and big data technology when I found great interest in coding as well as data analyzing. So, here I am with a bunch of outstanding people and I really appreciate that. However I never thought I wound end up here, I played ice hockey for 16 years, 6 years of professional career. I thought I would be playing pro hockey for the rest of my life, however, when it comes to a intersection, I have to make an decision, a big decision. Unlike my other teammates, I made it in university, I had a tough period considering whether to go to the university or keep playing hockey, I loved hockey so much that when my mom wants me to quit hockey for my study, we had a big fight on that. I was crying that I wanted to play hockey and after all I'm really good at it. What made me change my mind was I realized that hockey in China needs time to make a difference and for now there ain't my place. After two years of struggling in the big data field, I found my passion in the thing, the project I have done, the paper I wrote for the big data competition, the algorithm in machine learning and all that stuff helped me gain confidence once again. I have achieved many things in hockey, now it's the time to fight in a brand new battlefield -- big data, and I'm ready for that, so let's do it baby!

Academic Interests

- Python, R, Java, C and C++

- machine learning models such as LSTM, multimodal model

- I'm interested in big data platform, including setting up the platform, and install all the tool needed such as hadoop, hive, sqoop, kafka etc.

- Today I'm focusing on the multimodal model and have an idea of combing it with the knowledge of sports psychology which would definitely have positive effect on the model
